Neil pulls into a gas station on way to rehearsal

Neil: Here you go.
Attendant: OK, and here's your receipt.
Neil: Thank you.
Attendant: Why don't you read the back of it, huh?
Neil: The back? OK.
(Neil reads the "song.")

Your love is so cruel,
It's hard to mention.
It's flattened my heart
And bent my suspension.

Neil: "Yeah, well listen, I got a rehearsal. Could we talk about this next time?
Attendant: "Well, sure, Mr. Diamond. Maybe we could sing about it next time, huh?
Neil: I should of taken a bus. Keep up the good work.
Attendant: See you soon.

(Neil leaves the station and the attendant still has Neil's credit card.)

Attendant: Sooner than you think!

Neil drives to the studio for rehearsal.

Stevie Wonder is rehearsing the song "Overjoyed"

Over time,
I've been building my castle of love.
Just for two,
Though you never knew you were my reason.
I've gone much too far for you now to say
That I've got to throw my castle away.

Over dreams,
I have picked out a perfect come true,
Though you never knew
It was of you I've been dreaming
The sandman has come from too far away
For you to say come back some other day.

And though,
you don't believe that they do
They do come true.
For did my dreams
come true when I looked at you
And maybe too, if you would believe
you too might be
Overjoyed, over loved, over me.

Over hearts,
I have painfully turned every stone.
Just to find,
I had found what I've searched to discover.
I've come much too far for me now to find
The love that I've sought
can never be mine.

Neil enters the studio.

And though,
you don't believe that they do
They do come true.
For did my dreams
come true when I looked at you
And maybe too, if you would believe
you too might be
Overjoyed, over loved, over me.

Neil watches Stevie sing:

And though the odds say improbable,
What do they know
For in romance
All true love needs is a chance.
And maybe with a chance you will find
You too like I
Overjoyed, over loved, over you, over you.
Over you!

Neil: Gorgeous.
Stevie: Thank you, Neil. Thanks a lot.
Neil: What a run through!
Stevie: Run through? I thought that was the show.

Neil: C'mon, why don't we do the duet together?
Stevie: Great...but this is a dress rehearsal. What are you gonna wear?
Neil: You know, I thought they gave this to me for some reason.
Stevie: Here we go!
(Stevie plays piano)
Neil: That'll do it!

Stevie: That's pretty good. You look good in black.
Neil: C'mon, Stevie, we gotta work!
Stevie: That's true 'cause they were talking about this show on the radio!
Neil: Can you believe that DJ? He said I dream up my songs!

Stevie: It's funny how people always ask that same question. Like "Stevie, when you wrote 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered' were you in the post office?"
Neil: And were you?
Stevie: I'll never tell! And was there a Sweet Caroline?
Neil: I'll never tell! But it's crazy. We always get the same question: "How did you get the inspiration for this song? How did you get your inspiration for that song?"
Stevie: Yeah, I bet we've answered that question every possible way.
Neil: I bet not this way, Stevie.
